Early autumn: music and transition

As the season turns toward autumn here in the northern hemisphere, sometimes the transitions are quite subtle: a red leaf among the green, a shift from summer’s vibrant greenery to a golden hue that presages autumn’s color, a change in the slant of light. Transitions in music, and in life, are often like that, as well: a slight shift in pattern, a different in angle of view, one small change that connects with what may come.
