Radio Ballads: The Ballad of the Big Ships
Ballad of the Big Ships
The nature of work, of how work forms community and is formed by it, and what happens when both of these part of life face change: that's the substance of the conversations which led to the songs on Ballad of the Big Ships. The voices of the people who've lived those circumstances in the ship building industries along the Clyde and the Tyne form the substance of this recording, their voices, and the songs those voices inspired. It is a powerful project, much to think on whatever your line of work. Songwriters include Jez Lowe, Karine Polwart, and John Tams. This is part of the BBC2 radio Ballads series.
