music and Advent: preparation
This is a season when rush and hurry and many things which have to be done may quickly come to seem as demands. They do not have to seem that way, however. The work of winter and of Advent is also drawing in, and that work includes contemplation and rest as well as celebration and gathering together. Sometimes, even, celebration as contemplation and contemplation as celebration. That has always seemed to me a good way to think during Advent. Music is both direct and indirect path into such
thoughts.

I always want to take a nap after reading your posts, Kerry, and I mean this in the best possible way.
I frequently find their brevity and message both calming and soothing.
Sarah,
I do intend it to be a place of peace. if that leads you to take nap, well-- I am reminded of a friend who is a songwriter. she finds that when something she's writing is just not working, sometimes the best thing to do is take a nap, and then the ideas sort themselves out.
