Matt & Shannon Heaton: If I Were a Blackbird
Boston area duo Matt and Shannon Heaton have an album out called Blue Skies above, a mix of Celtic traditional and contemporary music, originals and covers, songs about harvest time, bicycles, and all sorts of other interesting stuff. They took the title of the album from the song If I Were a Blackbird, a traditional Irish song to which Shannon added some new words. Here's a video of the Heatons, and a few friends, performing the song at Club Passim in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
You may read more Blue Skies Above here. There's also a link in that article to information about the Heatons' Christmas album, Fine Winter's Night, which is well worth your listening too. They are working on a new recording, to be released around Valentine's Day.
