now playing: Danu
When All Is Said and Done
One of the nicest things about this set of music from Danu is how all the pieces (well maybe except Only Nineteen Years Old, never one of my favorites) work together, from the Highest Hill reels to Muireann nic Amhlaoibh’s fine understated take on Paul Brady’s song Follow On, to Donal Clancy’s (pictured at right) great guitar work through the pieces, to a very Irish and very illuminating cover of Dylan’s Farewell Angelina, to a pair of songs sung in Irish, An Cailin Deas Cruite na mBo and O Dheara, ‘Sheanduine. A great group of players, a very fine singer, and loads of great music shared with originality.

I was in Ireland in 2000. I picked up their first album a Paul Brady album on that trip. Both are, of course, brilliant. It sounds like I need to go pick up this new Danu recording. Thanks for the review.
